SAN YGNACIO, TEXAS-Victoria (Viqui) Flores Uribe 98, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Falcon Lake Nursing Home in Zapata Texas.

Mrs. Uribe, is preceded in death by her husband, Alonso Uribe; parents, Ignacio Flores and Maria Burford; son, Alonso Uribe Jr.; siblings, Beatriz, Angela, Mercedes, and Ignacio (Nacho)

Mrs. Uribe is survived by her; daughters, Yolanda (Jose Manuel) Uribe Rangel, Araceli (Jose Luis) Uribe Martinez; grandchildren, Carlos (Irina), Al (Megan), Cristina, Celina (Juan Daniel), Celisa (Jorge), Ricardo (Analaura); great-grandchildren, Devin, Aaron, Cora, Emma, Isaac, and Ava

Viqui attended St. Peter's Catholic School in Laredo and graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1945. She attended Laredo Junior College where she studied business, accounting, and bookkeeping. After finishing her studies, she moved to San Antonio and worked for H.B. Zachary in their business office, later returning to Laredo to work for Herring Price Lumber Division.  She met Alonso at a Herring Price holiday party where they danced the night away and eventually married in 1953.  Initially, they lived at La Cabra Ranch but moved to San Ygnacio in 1954 where they built their home and raised the family.

Viqui was a homemaker until 1964 when she was recruited to be the director of the first Head Start Program in San Ygnacio.  She also worked part time on Saturdays, managing the payroll account for La Posada Hotel. Eventually, she became the secretary at A.L. Benavidez Elementary until her retirement. Throughout her life in San Ygnacio, Viqui was a permanent fixture at Nuestra Senora del Refugio Mission. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Society, participating in myriad festivals and fund-raising activities. One of her most noteworthy accomplishments was spear-heading the historical restoration project after an arsonist tried to destroy our 200-year-old mission. She loved volunteering in the community, and not just in San Ygnacio. For many years Viqui was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary at Laredo Mercy Hospital/Laredo Medical Center, lending her creative talents to making tray favors for patients.  She was also a regular at the Zapata County Museum where she helped Amparo Montes every Thursday.  Viqui loved history, genealogy, and travel.

Viqui was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was generous with her many gifts and imparted them lovingly to family, friends and even to those she didn't know well. Her positive energy; "can do" attitude; radiant smile; compassionate heart; and zest for life's adventures are but some of the priceless gifts she graciously gave to all of us.  We were blessed to have her in our midst, for she made our world a better one. Most certainly, Viqui's bright and beautiful spirit will continue to live among us, lighting our way.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at Our Lady of Refuge in San Ygnacio, Texas.

Committal services will follow at Uribe Cemetery in San Ygnacio, Texas.
