ZAPATA, TEXAS---Steven James Williams, 71, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, James and Vivian Williams.

Mr. Williams, is survived by his wife, Maria Buchanan; sons, Luis (Karla) Hernandez, Jess Buchanan; daughters, Brenda Uresti, Erika (Adam) Olivares; grandchildren, Raul Rubio, Jaqueline Rubio, Victor Uresti, Adan Olivares III, Luis B. Hernandez, Brianna Hernandez, Jesse Olivares, Bryan Hernandez, Britany Hernandez, Tristan Olivares and by numerous other family members and friends.

Steve Williams was born in Los Angeles, California and later moved to Lancaster, California where he attended school and graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1966. As soon as he could drive cars became his love. He thrived on customizing and pampering his vehicles. He also found a love for the trucking industry and started a career as a long-haul truck driver which lasted over 43 years and over 4 million miles over the roadways of the United States.

Steve moved to Zapata in 1999 and was employed by Promise Trucking until his retirement in 2011.

Steve became a member of King's Way Church in 2000 and remained a very active part until his passing. He met his new wife, Maria, there and their 14 years together was filled with travel (cruises, Alaska, Jamaica, and other locales) and lots of car shows. Steve has left a legacy to all who knew him as a man of strong faith driven to give his best for his Lord and people.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. at King's Way Church.
