ZAPATA, TEXAS---   Sergio Elizondo 86, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to meet our Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo Texas surrounded by his family. He was born on February 26, 1938, in Zapata, Texas to Ramona and Abel Elizondo.

He is preceded in death by his father, Abel Elizondo; mother, Ramona P. Elizondo; sons, Sergio Silvestre Elizondo and Victor Manuel Elizondo.

He is survived by his wife Olivia B. Elizondo; daughters, Melba (Carlos) Garcia, Dinora (Rafael) Villarreal, and son Luis Elizondo, along with 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren who he loved very much. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Olga M. Bruni; sister, Emilia (†Livio) Uribe, and brothers Javier (†Celia) Elizondo, and Miguel (Martha) Elizondo and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

He was married to his beloved wife, Olivia, for 60 years and always enjoyed celebrating life with his family.  He was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love, and his absence leaves a void in our hearts.

To commemorate his life and memories, a service was held at Rose Garden Funeral Home on Sunday, August 18, 2024, with visitation hours from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, we opened at 8:00 a.m. The funeral procession departed at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
