ZAPATA, TEXAS---Ruben Lopez 61, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Lopez is preceded in death by his son, Nicanor "Nicky" Lopez; parents, Nicanor and Betina Lopez and sisters, Olivia Cruz, Ofelia Lopez and Juana Gamez.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his wife, Janie Lopez; sons, John (Tyanne) Hurtado, Paul Eric (Amada) Hurtado; daughter, Maria Del Pilar Lopez; grandchildren, Shae Spivey, J.C. Eric Hurtado, Adreanna Hurtado, Paul E. Hurtado, Jr., Esteban R. Hurtado, Emalee J. Hurtado, Jayden Nicolas Lopez; brothers, Nick (Charleen) Lopez, Robert Lopez, Rudy Lopez. Juan Lopez, Rene Lopez; sisters, Linda Lopez and Lupe Garza and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours were held on Monday, September 24, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession departed on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
