ZAPATA, TEXAS---Rosamaria Garza Guevara peacefully joined the good Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Rosita was a beautiful, radiant, highly intelligent, spiritual and bubbly person. She put her education on hold to raise her two sons, and late in life obtained her GED from Zapata High School, then a Master's Degree in English. She taught advanced college courses at Zapata High School until her retirement. She had a quick sense of humor and great personality. She could find best in every situation and had faith in family and God. She will be missed by all who knew her and witnessed the beautiful aura she exuded. She was quick to smile and extend a helping hand.

An avid gardener with an amazing green thumb to grow practically anything, amateur painter and hobbyist, creative jeweler, a perfectionist knitter/weaver, and sewer who always made time to teach anyone who had interest in learning a new skill/hobby. She was the ultimate baker and teacher, who continually tried out new recipes and shared the results with family and friend. Many anticipated her visits to see what baked goods would be shared.

Ms. Guevara is preceded in death by her sons Juan Antonio Guevara, Jr. (Mellie Martinez) and Edwardo Javier Guevara (Rachel) and grandson, Robert E. Guevara (Marisol), her parents, Lauro & Cidelia Garza and eldest brother, Lauro Amado Garza, Jr. (Rosalva).

She was greatly beloved among the Garza side of the family: sister Belen (†Eliseo) Gutierrez, brother Abel (Reda) Garza, brother Manuel (Amparo) Garza, sister Marta (Homero) Elizondo, sister Patricia (†Marcial) Gonzalez. Numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces along with great-great-nephews and nieces.

Among those mouring her passing are her grandchildren, Jenicia Davis (Robert), Javier Angel Guevara, great-grand-children, Roslyn Marie Guevara, Aria Rayne Guevara, Robert Antonio Guevara and Robert Clinton Davis.

Rosita continued to be part of the Guevara side of the family for 40 plus years and was greatly loved and adored by all.

Rosita will be greatly missed every single day by everyone she knew.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
