ZAPATA, TEXAS---Dr. Rosa Elva Villarreal-Gonzales 72, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Houston Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.

Dr. Rosa Elva Villarreal-Gonzales is preceded in death by her parents, Heleodoro Villarreal and Maria Del Socorro Guajardo Villarreal; sister, Martha Catalina Villarreal, and brothers-in-law Joel Morales, Sr., and Humberto Botello II.

Rosa was born in Lampazos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on March 2 1951. Rosa is survived by her precious mijo, Josue David Gonzales (Lynn); sisters Ayme C. Morales, Leticia Villarreal Barrero (Cris Valdez), Martha Beatriz Villarreal Botello, and Rosalva Guerra; brother Elio Villarreal; nephews/sons Joel Morales Jr. (Angelica), Franco Barrero (Margaret), Sergio Barrero (Carolina), Humberto Botello III, Enrique A. Lopez Jr. (Linda), and Ely A. Lopez (Eva); nieces/daughters Claudia I. Villarreal (Jerald), Odyssa Villarreal (Joseph), and Marthalinda Botello; grandchildren Nicolas, Alexandra, Adrian, Sergio Alejandro, Elias, Ana Catarina, Denise (Trent), Humberto IV, Danika, Brenden, Esmeralda, Esperanza, Elsa, Enrique III, Edan, Evely, Elian, Diego, Kaine, Liam Oliver, and Gryffindor Gonzales, by numerous other family members and friends.

She was one of Texas' best educators teaching all grades spanning from elementary to college. She retired from Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District in Baytown, TX after 45 years of exceptional service. She graduated from Texas A&I University with a Doctorate of Education, Ph.D. degree.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.
