ZAPATA, TEXAS---

ZAPATA, TEXAS---Romeo Benavidez 62, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Benavidez is preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. and Arabela Benavidez.

Mr. Benavidez is survived by his wife of 42 years, Thelma G. Benavidez; son, Romeo Benavidez Jr. (Kimberly Davila); daughters, Amanda V. Benavidez, Katherine A. (Honorato) Cantu; grandchildren, Romeo Benavidez III, Nathaniel Lee Benavidez, Jay Aguilar Jr., Alexis Benavidez, Jolissa Aguilar, Joel Benavidez, Josiah Aguilar, Isacc Cantu, Rebecca Cantu; brother, Carlos (Linda) Benavidez, Rogelio (Alba) Benavidez, Ramiro Benavidez, Juan Jose Benavidez (Imelda Benavidez) sisters, Sylvia (Ramon Jr.) Gonzalez, Sandra (Sixto Jr.) Hinojosa, in-laws, †Erasmo (Catalina) Gutierrez; brothers-in-law, Erasmo Jr. (Irma) Gutierrez, Amando (Dr. Delia) Gutierrez; sisters-in-law, Juanita (Joe) Garcia, Nidia (†Jose Rolando Jr.) Guzman, Anavelia (†Aguinaldo Jr.) Navarro, Becky (Lionel) Martinez, Leticia (Dario) Ramos and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023 we will open at 8:00 a.m. and the funeral procession will depart at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
