ZAPATA, TX---Romana Esther Benavides, 75, passed away on March 15, 2024.  She was born to Jesus and Romana V. Benavides on February 23, 1949 in Zapata, TX.

A lifelong resident of Zapata, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rogelio Benavides, brothers-in-law Rodolfo (Carlota) Morales and Lauro (Enedina) Morales, and bonus nephew, Rodolfo Morales, III.

She is survived by her sisters, Carlota (†Rodolfo) Morales, Elida (Jesus) Rodriguez, Enedina (†Lauro) Morales and Enedelia (Armando) Rivera and numerous nephews and nieces.

The love and kindness she shared with all those she met was heartfelt and sincere.  Her innocence and gentility will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will include Carlos A. Morales, Elliott R. De La Garza, Armando Rivera, Alfonso Rivera, Lauro Morales, Jr., Jesus Rodriguez Jr. and Rodolfo Morales Jr.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024 we will open at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral procession will depart at 12:30 p.m. for a 1:00 p.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
