Raul D. Martinez Garcia 87, passed away February 24, 2022, Doctor's Hospital Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.

He is preceded by his parents, Raul and Vicenta Martinez; his brothers, Gorgonio Martinez, Elmer Martinez; his sisters Blanca Garcia and Zulema Quintero.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Maria del Refugio Martinez; daughters, Maribel (Rudy) Bustamante, Patricia Rodriguez, Cookie Martinez, Sandra (Randy) Bottomley and Veronica (Jason) Knox; son, Raul D. Martinez, Jr.; grandchildren, Andrea Bustamante, Stacey Bustamante, Rudielynn Bustamante, Erica Rodriguez, Cruz (Coleen) Rodriguez, Madison (Jose) Chavira, Shelby Martinez, Tony Bottomley and Jamie Bottomley; great-grandchildren, Becca Uribe, Aberdeem Uribe, Tristen Jackson, Ryder Jackson, Cody Rodriguez and Amerie Rodriguez.

Mr. Martinez migrated to the US from Paras, NL, Mexico in the 1950s and created a very successful landscaping company in Barrington, IL. In 1970, he and his family settled in Zapata which enabled him to be near family. He was very passionate about ranching and horse racing and was an avid horse trainer in Zapata for many years.

Funeral Mass will be held March 12, 2022 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 306 S 15 ^th Street, McAllen TX 78501.
