ZAPATA, TEXAS---Raul Barrera, Jr. 64, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Falcon Lake Nursing Home in Zapata, Texas.

Mr. Barrera is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sophia Montañez and parents, Raul and Olivia Barrera.

Mr. Barrera is survived by his son, Daniel Arturo (Roberta Meza) Barrera; daughters, Jessica (Cory, Jr.) Buruato, Annabelle Barrera (Ricardo Montañez); grandchildren, Jose Angel Hernandez, Jr., Joel Anthony Hernandez, Richard Alexander Montañez, Aubrey Linda Montañez, Daniel Arturo Barrera, Jr., Roberta Sonia Barrera, Jessalynn Nicole Buruato, Jaqueline Marie Buruato; brother, Arturo Barrera; sisters, Yolanda (Felix) Garcia, Elia (Jose Clemente) Gutierrez, Idelta (Domingo) Castañeda and by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Visitation hours were held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession departed on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Interment will be announced at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
