On Thursday April 20th, 2017 at 5:25 pm, God welcomed his most faithful servant, Raquel Silma Treviño, into his loving arms to enjoy his eternal glory. She passed peacefully at Baylor Medical Center in Carrollton, Texas after a long battle with Parkinson's and related disorders. She was an extraordinary woman with an appreciable amount of humor, generosity, honesty, kindness, loyalty, and love. She was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She had a compelling passion for baking and celebrating life events with everyone -- no one could resist her sweets.

Raquel was born in Old Guerrero on October 5, 1932 to Ramon and Petra G. Flores. She married the love of her life Filiberto Treviño Jr. after his return from WWII. They established their life in Zapata, Texas, where they raised a beautiful family and developed many lifelong friendships. She worked and retired from the Zapata Independent School District as a Community Liaison for the Migrant program.

Raquel's greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Filiberto Treviño (Nelda), Rolando Treviño, and Luisa T. Flores (Ruben Jr.), her beloved five grandchildren: Angela Logue, Andrea Bowden (Danny), Rolando Trevino Jr., Roxana Trevino, Evana Flores and Ruben Flores, and her beloved four great grandchildren: Nathan Bowden, Abigail Bowden, John Bowden and Noah Logue . She is also survived by her brother Dagoberto Flores (Barbarita) and her sister Belia F. Gonzalez and in-laws Maria Ines Flores, Leopoldo and Emma Treviño, Luisa T. Lopez, Consuelo Treviño, Concepcion T. Ramirez and many dear nieces and nephews. She was an exemplary role model that will be so dearly missed. Her legacy will live on and her beautiful smile will forever be present in our hearts.

During this long illness and due to its progressively physically debilitating and communicative restrictive nature, it was difficult for Raquel to travel down to Zapata. Her beloved friends and family were always on her mind, thoughts and prayers. Thanks for all the loving thoughts, prayers and messages sent during this time. We were very blessed for the loving care provided by medical caregivers and the generosity, love and support of family, friends, neighbors and earthly angels that God placed in our path to help us make her final journey peaceful and comfortable.

Visitation hours were held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 8 a.m. with a rosary at 9 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession departed at 10:30 a.m. for an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.
