ZAPATA, TX---Raquel Alicia P. Lopez, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raul and Alicia Ramirez Puig (Hebbronville, TX), her husband Eleuterio Lopez, Jr., her daughter, Raquel Amelia Lopez, her son Roberto Rene Lopez (Lourdes Navarro Lopez), two brothers, Juan Puig (Gloria Flores Puig) and Dario Armando Puig (Mary Puig), a sister, Gloria Lamar Puig Bazan (Juan Bazan), granddaughter, Lizette Lopez and a grandson, Roman Luis Lopez.

She leaves behind her son, Luis Lauro Lopez (Patricia Lopez), a brother, Raul Puig (the late Estella Puig), a daughter-in-law, Lourdes Lopez (the late Roberto Lopez), a sister-in- law, Gloria F. Puig (the late Juan Puig), five grandchildren, Jessica Lee Vargas (Isidoro Vargas), Luis Lauro Lopez (Maritza R. Lopez), Roberto E. Lopez (Cindy Crawford Lopez), Araceli Solis ( Homar Solis, Jr.), Rene A. Lopez (Denise Del Bosque Lopez), 15 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

Raquel was born on December 23, 1929, in San Diego, TX. She was a resident of Zapata, TX, for over forty years. Raquel dedicated her entire life to her family. She was an exemplary and devoted loving mother to her children: Luis Lauro, Roberto Rene, and Raquel Amelia. Her dedication and love was especially evident in the lifelong care of her daughter, Raquel Amelia. During her time in Zapata, she made many friends, whom she loved dearly. Raquel worked for Zapata County ISD as a teacher's assistant where she touched the lives of many students. She also worked part time for the Rose Garden Funeral Home, always speaking fondly of her memories there. Raquel will also forever be a part of the history of Jim Hogg County where she was honored to have been chosen as the very first drum majorette of Hebbronville High School.

Raquel loved life, loved her Lord, loved her family, loved her friends and loved her caregivers. She will be remembered as a beautiful, fun, caring, and giving person. Her beautiful presence in this world will be truly missed.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 8:00 a.m. with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
