On the 28th of June in the year of Our Lord, our angel gained her wings. Patricia G. Thatcher, 59, passed away peacefully on to glory in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by family. Born to Antonio and Consuelo Garcia of San Ygnacio, Texas, she was a Zapata High School graduate, class of 1977, who went on to pursue an associates degree in Early Chilhood Development at Lsc. She worked at El Lago Daycare Center for many years, where she made many lifelong friendships and left a profound impression on many of her students that remain to this day. Then she went on to TLC Adult Daycare Center as the Director of Activities and again forged and built many bonds with her "viejitos" clients. From there she went on to work for Texas Visiting Nurse Service, Ltd, as PHC Supervisor and soon transitioned to Office Supervisor, where she continued her work as an advocate for the elderly and disabled until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her infant son John Anthony Thatcher, parents Antonio and Consuelo Garcia, baby brother, Octavio Garcia, and ex husband Oscar Thatcher, sister in law Olga Lydia Bautista and brother in law Benito Alvarez.

She is survived by her faithful spouse Armando Aguirre, children Consuelo (Johnny) Jasso, Oscar James Thatcher, grandchildren Brianna J. Contreras, Cristo Rey & Cristo Rene Jasso. Siblings Evangelina Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Arlina G Thatcher, Belinda (Juan N.) Garza, Derly (Nikki) Garcia, Mirtha Garcia (Juan Villarreal), Eugenio (Sylvia) Garcia, and Marco Antonio Garcia. Brothers and sisters in law Jesus (Rosa Maria) Lupercio, Maria (Juan) Gonzalez, Ma. del Carmen (Nestor) Chapa, Martin (Carmen) Lupercio, Tomas Aguirre, Luis Antonio Aguirre, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Patricia was gracefully resilient cancer surviving ferociously strong filled woman who was never afraid to express what she thought or what she felt; always lighting up the room with her presence, yet she was the kindest daughter, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother. She always had an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on for anyone who needed it. Her commitment to loving and sacrificing for her family defined her. She loved family gatherings and was revered for her stuffing during Thanksgiving dinners. She loved San Antonio Spurs and her Dallas Cowboys, as well as a good book.

She was sustained by many friendships and an indelible sense of humor. Her Family inspired and strengthened her faith which like everything else, she practiced in her own special and unique way. She will be dearly missed and will live on forever in our hearts.


A mass was held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, TX.

Committal services followed at Panteon Del Pueblo in San Ygnacio, TX.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
