ZAPATA, TEXAS—Omelia Zapata entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 6, 2026, at her residence in Zapata, Texas.

Omelia was preceded in death by her great-grandchild, Rene Del Bosque III, and her parents, Ruben and Elia Zapata.

She is survived by her daughter, Elia "Meli" (Alvaro) Vasquez; her grandchildren, Aileen O. Acevedo, Rene (Monse) Del Bosque Jr., Amy Marie Del Bosque, Paola Vasquez, Viridiana Vasquez, Alvaro Y. Vasquez, and Aaliyah A. Vasquez; her brothers, Ruben O. (Maribel) Zapata Jr. and Javier E. (Raquel) Zapata; her sisters, Ofelia Z. (Juan) Vela and Maria Z. (Leonardo Jr.) Flores; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the funeral home will open at 8:00 a.m. The funeral procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery
