ZAPATA, TEXAS— Ninfa Cuellar, 89, passed away on Thursday October 31, 2024, in Zapata, Texas.

She was born April 1, 1935, in Falfurrias, Tx to Ricardo Gonzalez and Felipa Dias. She married Nicasio Eloy Cuellar on April 10, 1955.  The couple established their residence at Zapata and started a family, which grew to include nine children. Ninfa was a hard-working woman, working several jobs at the same time in order to make ends meet.  Her last job was at the Zapata Nutrition Center where she retired in 2007.

Mrs. Cuellar is preceded in death by her husband; Nicasio Eloy Cuellar; daughter, Diana Cuellar; son, Eloy Cuellar.

Mrs. Cuellar is survived by three other sons, Gavid (†Lydia) Cuellar, Luis Cuellar, Jorge (Roxy) Cuellar all from Zapata and four daughters, Esmeralda Saldivar (Luis) from Idaho, Irma Burauto (Ismael), Anna Juarez (Joe), and Elma Perez all from Zapata and daughter-in-law Enelda V Cuellar from Freer.   She also leaves a large legacy of 27 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday November 4, 2024, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. The funeral procession will depart at 10:00 am for a funeral mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, Texas.

Committal service followed at Zapata County cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
