ZAPATA, TEXAS --Minerva Elsa Martinez Garza, 90, entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2020 in her home. Mrs. Garza was a beloved wife and mother known for her kindness, love and patience. She was a teacher for many years, an accomplished pianist, and a piano teacher as well. She dedicated her life to caring for her son, Mario Jr. and the rest of her family as well.

Mrs. Garza is preceded in death by her husband, Mario Garza, her parents, Juventino (Josefina) Martinez, and her two sons, Mario Garza, Jr. and Juventino Garza.

Mrs. Garza is survived by her daughters, Marta (Wesley McMeans) Garza, Dr. Minerva (Dr. Louis) Garcia and Dr. Marissa (Paul) Charles and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 1:00 pm followed by a Holy Rosary at 2:00 pm. A Chapel service will start at 3:00 pm officiated by Pastor Roger Miller at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

A Funeral Procession will follow and committal services will be at the Zapata County Cemetery.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the services will be for immediate family and friends. The family kindly asks those wishing to express condolences in person to wear face masks and maintain social distancing recommendations. We continue to ask those at risk or those not feeling well to stay home.
