Mauro Mario Ramirez, Jr., 57, entered into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 9, 2018 in Harlingen, Texas.

Mauro was born in Roma, Texas, to Mauro and Viola Ramirez on August 24, 1960. Mauro received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at Texas A&M International University. He married his wife Elma Estela Gonzalez Ramirez and dedicated his life and love to his wife and five children: Diana Rebecca Ramirez, Mario Daniel Ramirez, Justin Anthony Ramirez, Sarah Isabella Ramirez, and Jacob Josep Ramirez.

Mauro worked as a Sheriff's Deputy in Zapata County for five years. He then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Special Agent K9 Police Officer for over 33 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family and working cattle at the ranch. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, target-shooting, and working on his guns. Mauro will always be remembered for his big heart, genuine love, pleasant personality, and his great ability to make others laugh.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mauro Mario Ramirez, Sr., and his aunt, Mary Aida Ramirez Bailey (Joseph Bailey).

Left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 35 years, Elma Estela Gonzalez Ramirez, and his five children: Diana Rebecca Ramirez of Edinburg, Texas, Mario Daniel Ramirez (Triana Gonzalez, fiancée) of Laredo, Texas, Justin Anthony Ramirez (Kristy Ramirez) of San Antonio, Texas, Sarah Isabella Ramirez, and Jacob Josep Ramirez, and his granddaughter, Raelynn Torres; his mother, Viola Ramirez; his sisters: Illiana Ramirez-Morales and Joann Gonzalez; he is also survived by many other cousins, nephews, nieces, and close relatives.

A funeral mass was held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located on 1609 Glenn St., Zapata, Texas.

Burial followed at Lopeño Cemetery in Lopeño, Texas.
