ZAPATA, TEXAS— Maria Margarita Rodriguez Villarreal, 78, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was born in Del Rio, Texas on October 17, 1946, but lived most of her life in Zapata, Texas.

Margarita was known to many as a loving and caring person. She served the Zapata community in various ways, including serving at Zapata High School for many years. She loved taking care of her home and you could often find her outdoors tending her yard and her beloved pets, Sandy and Brownie.  She greeted each day with enthusiasm and was ready to live each day to the fullest. She was always full of life, happy, and often listened to music and sang. She will be deeply missed by many family members and friends.

Margarita is preceded in death by her former husband, Roel Villarreal; mother, Cristina O. Rodriguez; father, Rito Rodriguez; brothers, Jose Rodriguez, Rito Rodriguez Jr. and Rito Rodriguez Jr.

Margarita is survived by daughters Lina Eva Villarreal, Yolanda V. Garcia; sons, Roel Villarreal, Jr., Roel Rene Villarreal; brothers, Roberto Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez, Calixtro Rodriguez, Reynaldo Rodriguez; sisters, Rosa Elia Martinez, Josie Isaiz and Berta Rodriguez. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her best friend who she was very close to Urbano Martinez and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Friday, November 15, 2024, we will open at 8 a.m. and depart at 9:30 a.m. for a mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, Texas.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.

María Margarita Rodríguez Villarreal, de 78 años, falleció el 9 de noviembre de 2024. Nació en Del Rio, Texas el 17 de octubre de 1946, pero vivió la mayor parte de su vida en Zapata, Texas.

Margarita era conocida por muchos como una persona cariñosa y afectuosa. Ella sirvió a la comunidad de Zapata de varias maneras, incluido el servicio en la Escuela Secundaria de Zapata durante muchos años. Le encantaba atender a su hogar y la podías encontrar al aire libre cuidando su jardín y a sus queridas mascotas, Sandy y Brownie. Amanecia cada día con entusiasmo y estaba dispuesta a disfrutar de la vida.  Ella siempre estuvo llena de vida y le encantaba escuchar música y cantar. Muchos familiares y amigos la extrañarán profundamente.

A Margarita le precedieron en la muerte su ex esposo, Roel Villarreal, su madre Cristina O. Rodríguez, su padre, Rito Rodríguez, y sus hermanos, José Rodríguez, Rito Rodríguez Jr. y Rito Rodríguez Jr.

A Margarita le sobreviven sus hijos Lina Eva Villarreal, Roel Villarreal, Jr., Yolanda V. García y Roel René Villarreal.   También le sobreviven cuatro hermanos, Roberto Rodríguez, Francisco Rodríguez, Calixtro Rodríguez, Reynaldo Rodriguez y 3 hermanas, Rosa Elia Martínez, Josie Isaiz y Berta Rodríguez. Tiene 10 nietos y 7 bisnietos y muchas sobrinas, sobrinos y amigos. Le sobrevive su mejor amigo, Urbano Martínez, que fue muy cercano a ella.

El horario de velatorio se llevará a cabo el jueves 14 de noviembre de 2024, de 6:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m. con un rosario a las 7:00 p. m. en Rose Garden Funeral Home.

El viernes 15 de noviembre de 2024, abriremos a las 8 a. m. y saldremos a las 9:30 a. m. para una misa a las 10:00 a. m. en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Lourdes en Zapata, Texas.

Los servicios de compromiso seguirán en el Cementerio del Condado de Zapata.
