ZAPATA, TEXAS---Maria Estela Mendoza 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Lopeño, Texas.

Mrs. Mendoza is preceded in death by her husband, Jose I. Mendoza; parents, Manuel and Guadalupe Melendez; in-laws, Francisco and Piedad Mendoza; sisters, Gloria Martinez, Gertrudes Torres, Elvira Guerra, Rosaura Mendoza; brother-in-law, Francisco Mendoza, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Melita and Sofia Mendoza; son-in-law, Eliberto Vela; grandson, Jesus Jose Perez and a great-granddaughter, Faith Adelle Lopez.

Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her children, Jose (Frances) Mendoza, Meli (Homero) Gonzalez, Lourdes (Angel) Lopez, Manuel (Irma) Mendoza, Elsa (†Eliberto) Vela, Sara (†Rolando) Perez, Benita Mendoza; twenty grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Maria A. (†Walter) Steubing and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jorge L. Mendoza, Jose Homero Gonzalez, Jr., Angel Lopez, Jr., Manuel Mendoza, Jr., Robert Vela and Daniel Gomez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be, Paco Mendoza, Jr., Roberta Mendoza, Cristina Vela, Eric Gonzalez, Ricardo Lopez, Lizela Tovar, Monica Mendoza, Marcos Mendoza, Rebecca Lopez, Eliberto Vela, Jr., Elisa Vela, Rolando Perez, Jr., Stela Benavides and Desirae Morgan.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home and we will depart at 3:00 p.m. for a funeral mass at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
