ZAPATA, TEXAS---Maria Esther G. Tovar 84, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, in Rio Grande City, Texas.

Mrs. Tovar is preceded in death by her sons, Jorge Luis Tovar, Martin Tovar, Joel Angel Tovar, Juan Manuel Tovar; grandson, Angel (Sandra G.) Tovar; granddaughter, Irma I. (Roy) Perez; great-grandchild, Angel Amaro Tovar Jr. and parents, Pedro and Maria Guajardo.

Mrs. Tovar is survived by her husband of 68 years, Francisco Tovar; sons, Francisco Jr. (Bertha) Tovar; Jesus Fernando (Veronica) Tovar; daughters, Irma Hilda (Antonio) Barrera, San Juanita Tovar, Norma Elia (Rolando) Bautista, Maria Lourdes (Jose Luis) Vela, Maria Esther (Enrique) Rodriguez, Veronica (Joey) Martinez, Imelda Irasema (Octavio) Garcia; thirty-four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Friday, August 4, 2023 we will open at 8:00 a.m. and the funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
