ZAPATA, TEXAS---Maria Sylvia "Chivys" Guzman 48, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Chivys is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Sylvia Guzman and a sister, Vicenta Rodriguez.

Chivys is survived by her husband, Jose R. Reyes, Jr.; sons, Ruben Hernandez, Jr., Jose R. Reyes, III, Oscar F. Reyes, Jesse L. Reyes, Nathan A. Reyes; sister, Jacoba (Jaime) Garcia; brother, Francisco (Rachel) Guzman and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. with a chapel service at 9:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
