ZAPATA, TEXAS—Maria E. Chapa 82, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mrs. Chapa is preceded in death by her husband Jose M. Chapa Sr.; son, Rodrigo Chapa; grandson, Rodrigo Chapa Jr.; parents, Juan and Teresa Sanchez; brothers, Raymundo (Josefa) Sanchez and sister, Adalia (Maximiliano) Chapa.

Mrs. Chapa is survived by her sons, Jose M. Chapa, Cruz (Sylvia) Chapa, Edelmiro (Elva) Chapa, Dagoberto (Norma) Chapa; daughters, Soraida Chapa, Blanca M. Chapa; grandchildren, Victor (Yesenia) Chapa, Alva M. (Armando) Del Bosque, Cruz Chapa Jr., Kamila Chapa, Marcos Puga, Eric k Chapa, Tracy (Sergio) Lara, Jose E Chapa, Dagoberto Jr. (Liliana) Chapa, Daniel Chapa, David Chapa (Triana Rodriguez), Bianca (Francisco) Fernandez, Gilberto E. Cruz Jr., Bianira M. Cruz; great grandchildren, Victoria Chapa, Kaylee K. Del Bosque, Marcos Puga Jr., Kareli Lara, Leah Chapa, Ethan Chapa, Santiago Fernandez, Emma S. Fernandez, Rodrigo Chapa III; brothers, Bernardo Sanchez, Armando (Socorro) Sanchez; sisters, Rosa N. (†Enrique) Estrella, Ma. Oneida(†Jorge) Jasso, Gloria (Rosendo) Villarreal and by numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Rose Garden Funeral Home. We will open at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and a chapel service at 11:00 a.m.

Committal Services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
