ZAPATA, TEXAS---Marcos Mares 51, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Doctor's Hospital in Laredo, Texas.

Marcos is preceded in death by his father, Liborio Mares Sr.; sister, Maria Elena Mares; paternal grandparents, Jose and Margarita Mares and maternal grandparents, Marcos and Julia Guerrero.

Marcos is survived by his parents, Heberto and Blanca G. Salazar; brothers, Liborio Jr. "Larry" Mares (Cindy De Hoyos), Juan H. Salazar; sisters, Monica Salazar Gonzalez (Abel Mata), Erika (Tommy Jr.) Medina and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Marcos was employed by HEB for 26 years. He was a big guy with a gentle soul and a huge heart, and was a great friend to all who knew him. Marcos's love for music was demonstrated as he flooded his friends and family with snaps as he traveled to numerous cities to watch his favorite bands live. He was always willing to give out a helping hand without expecting anything in return and was the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with all his friends and family, and has taught us to love life to the fullest and enjoy every moment. He has left with us so many wonderful memories and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who loved him.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Friday. March 29, 2024 we will open at 10:00 a.m. and a chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
