ZAPATA, TEXAS— Marcia C. Guzman 85, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Laredo Texas surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Guzman is preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio Rene Guzman; daughter, Elia Nora Montes; granddaughter, Jo Marie Garcia; son-in-law, Omar Garcia; parents Enrique Cuellar and Reymunda T. Cuellar,  and her brothers & sisters.

Mrs. Guzman is survived by her sons, Gregorio Rene (Marta) Guzman Jr., Gerardo Roel (Kristy) Guzman; daughters, Elva Nelia Garcia (Olivero Ramos), Elsa N. (John) Rosales, Elida N. (Gustavo) Solis, Erica N. (Darius) Wright; grandchildren, Patricia Montes, Baldemar Montes Jr., Amparo Montes, Issac Guzman, Dominic Guzman, Noralyssa Guzman, Gerardo Guzman Jr. (Benji Hernandez), Amber (Salvador) Murillo, Brandon Rene Guzman, Omar Garcia Jr., Arturo Alfredo Garcia, Mario Orlando Garcia, Ricky Lee Garcia, April Marie (Steve) Perry, Adrianna Wright, Darius Wright Jr., 27 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; son-in-law Baldemar Montes and by numerous other family members and friends.

Marcia Guzman's family would especially like to thank one of her grandchildren, Ricky Lee Garcia.  His selflessness and unwavering support during this challenging time did not go unnoticed.  The way you tended to your grandmother's needs, provided companionship, and ensured her comfort touched not just her life but the lives of all of us in the family.  It is not an easy task to care for someone in such circumstances, but you rose to the occasion with grace and compassion.

A service for Mrs. Guzman will be held on Friday December 6, 2024.  Visitation hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home. The procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. for a mass at 11:00 a.m. at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, Texas.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
