ZAPATA, TEXAS---Luisa "Wicha" Creel, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at home in Zapata, Texas.

Luisa, a remarkable woman who lived a beautiful life filled with love and resilience, peacefully passed away at the age of 95. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering devotion as a mother, kindness, and tireless work ethic. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Luisa fulfilled her most treasured role as a loving mother to her son, Angel, and daughter, Cynthia. Her love for her children knew no bounds, embracing the joys and challenges of parenthood with grace and tenderness.

Throughout her remarkable life, she exemplified independence and hard work. Her dedication and exceptional work ethic in her career inspired everyone.

Luisa impact extended far beyond her immediate family. Her kind and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who knew her, always ready to lend a helping hand and offering compassion and wisdom. Her care for others made a lasting impression, forever changing lives.

As we say farewell to her, let us remember the beauty of her life and honor her memory by living with the same love, independence, and dedication she embodied. Though our hearts ache from the loss, we find solace knowing she rests in a peaceful reunion with loved ones.

Her memories will be cherished by extended family and friends. A ceremony will be held on August 7, 2023 to commemorate her extraordinary life, providing an opportunity for loved ones to honor her memory and find solace in one another's support.

May her soul find eternal peace in the presence of her beloveds. Let her memory be a guiding light, reminding us to cherish our loved ones, embrace independence, and pursue our dreams with determination.

Ms. Creel is preceded in death by her son, Angel Rodriguez; parents, Santiago and Antonia Guzman; sister, Maria "Maya" Guzman; brothers, Cosme Guzman and Miguel Guzman.

Ms. Creel is survived by her daughter, Cynthia C. (Billy B.) Granger, daughter in law, Mague Rodriguez; grand-children, Billy J. (†Laura) Granger, Jim B. Granger (Fenny Cantu), Vanessa (David) Porras, Angel Jr. (Allison) Rodriguez, Teresa (John Jr.) Hill, Roxanna (†Daniel) Hinojosa; great grand-children, Matthew Granger, Trevor Granger, Eryn Granger, Christopher Granger,  Nicolas Granger, Penelope Granger, Dalissa Porras, Darren Porras, Alexandra Hill, Amelia Hinojosa, James Hinojosa and by numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home. The funeral procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
