Luis Alberto Medina of Zapata, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on November 5, 1963, Luis was a man defined by his unwavering work ethic, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family.

Throughout his life, Luis took immense pride in his work. He was a dedicated natural gas compressor mechanic and welder who approached every task with diligence, skill, and integrity. Whether tackling a difficult repair or lending a helping hand, he was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the job was done right.

When he wasn't working, Luis was either watching football or talking about it. A lifelong and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he rarely missed a game and was always ready to passionately discuss the team's latest performance or debate the next play. His love for America's Team brought him countless hours of joy and created many treasured memories with family and friends.

Luis was also remembered for his athleticism. During his school years, he was an exceptional football player who loved the game and carried that passion for fitness throughout his life. He took great pride in the home gym he built himself, where family and friends could often find him exercising whenever he had a spare moment. His dedication to staying active reflected the discipline and determination that defined every aspect of his life.

Above all, Luis was a devoted family man. He cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He loved sharing stories, reminiscing about cherished memories, and enjoying the simple moments surrounded by the people who meant the most to him. His generosity, loyalty, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Luis was preceded in death by his father, Valentin H. Medina; brother, Mario Medina.

Luis is lovingly survived by his mother, Diana Bustamante Medina; his brother, Joel Medina( Juanita); his sisters, Monica Salinas (Javier) and Maricela Banda (Ernesto); his children, Luis A. Medina, Luis Daniel Medina (Britni), Roxanna Massey (Ellis), Cherokee Medina (Angel Sanchez), Dakota Medina (Jose Garcia) and Natalie Medina; and his beloved grandchildren, Sara Medina, Ashley Medina, Kylee Medina, Grayson Medina, Declan Medina, Averie Salinas, Xavier Massey, Alivia Massey, Ezequiel Sanchez, and Isabella Sanchez, Dailany Garcia.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. with a Chapel Service at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal Services will be followed at Zapata Co. Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Rose Garden Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses and to honor Luis's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.

Though he will be deeply missed, Luis's legacy of hard work, strength, laughter, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

And in true Luis fashion, we say one final time:
