ZAPATA, TEXAS---Juventino Briseño passed away peacefully on September 18, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones in Zapata, Texas.

Mr. Briseño is preceded in death by his parents Serafin Briseño Ramírez and Maria Trinidad B. Briseño; his son Juventino Jr., his brothers Baldomero, Armando, and Atilano Briseño, and his granddaughter Yaritza Salinas.

Mr. Briseño is survived by his beloved wife of 60 yrs. Alma Treviño Briseño; his children, Dora Alma Briseño (Gabriel III) Villarreal, Veronica Briseño, Angelica Maria Briseño (Orlando) Martinez, Serafin Briseño (Dora Alicia Guzman), Maria Guadalupe Briseño (Corando) Thatcher, Irasema Briseño, Cynthia Briseño (Hugo) Martinez, and Cristina Briseño (Jose Armando Jr.) Martinez; grandchildren, Gabriel Eduardo Villarreal (Frances Marie Sosa), Jesus Armando Villarreal (Noemi Gonzalez), Melissa V. Gallegos (Santos Gallegos), Alma Maria M. Martínez (Fernando Martínez), Clarissa M. Cuellar (Eloy Cuellar), Aaron Briseño, Isaac Briseño, Michael David Thatcher, Jonathan Thatcher, Brenda Marie Thatcher (Robert Vannest), Sinai R. Quintero (Andres Quintero), Adrian Ramirez V, Roberto Enrique Lopez, Veronica Belen Salinas, Victor Salinas, Marcos Salinas, Yaretzi Salinas, Valentin Salinas, Miguel Ángel Salinas; great grandchildren, Gabrielle Nicole Villarreal, Gabriel Alejandro Villarreal, Sofia Marie Villarreal, Santos Xavier Gallegos, Carlos Daniel Gallegos, Nathaniel Villarreal, Yaneli Anahi Martinez, Tatiana Cuellar, Issabella Cuellar, Brianna Marie A.  David Jaziel Rocha, Daniela Amyra Quintero, and Joseph Jaden Ramirez. Siblings, Margarita B. Ramos and Fernando Briseño, and by numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members.

Juventino was born on January 16, 1935 in Old Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Mexico.  He worked with his father at a young age. He was honest, friendly, and a hardworking and skilled worker. By the mid 1950's, he moved to California working in construction for more than 12 years. He also worked in Houston, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas until 1976, when Juventino and Alma and their family moved to Zapata, Texas. He then attained a position with the Zapata County Independent School District working in the Maintenance Department in 1979 until his retirement in 1996. He was a fervent Christian and faithful and loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was blessed to see his 3rd generation, his great grandchildren. Juventino loved fishing, boxing, baseball, and hunting. He was always busy doing projects at home. In his later years, he enjoyed watching Películas de la Época de Oro del cine mexicano along with his beloved wife, Alma. Juventino reminisced about his childhood and talking about his ancestors of Guerrero Viejo.

His favorite Biblical verse was written on his Bible: Y el pueblo respondió a Josué: A Jehová nuestro Dios serviremos, y a su voz obedeceremos. Josué 24:24.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. with a chapel service at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
