ZAPATA, TEXAS---Juan Fernando Martinez, Jr. 66, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Fernando Martinez and Guadalupe G. Benavides; son, Miguel Andres Martinez; sister, Mercedes G. Villarreal and a nephew, Abel Angel Villarreal.

Mr. Martinez is survived by his children, Juan Fernando, III (Joseline) Martinez, Alberto (Martha P.) Martinez, Erika (Horacio) Cuellar, Mauro Angel Martinez, Marco Antonio Martinez, Ella Ileana (Ezequiel) Peña; nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother and sisters, Beatriz (Gildo) Gutierrez, Rosario Martinez, Arturo (Rosalinda) Martinez and by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers were Rolando A. Villarreal, Pedro Morales, Jr., Roberto Gutierrez, Ramiro Torres, Luis Gonzalez, Gildo Gutierrez, Noe Isael Barrera, Arturo Javier Martinez, Brian Jason Martinez, Santana Benavidez and Eloy Roel Martinez.

Pallbearers were Arturo Martinez, Noe Barrera, Jose Luis Martinez, Jr., Carlos Martinez, Gilberto Martinez, Rene Martinez, Rolando A. Villarreal, Jr. and Carlos Martinez, Jr.

Visitation hours were held on Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession departed on Friday, June 30, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
