ZAPATA, TEXAS---Juan Jose "JJ" Benavides 62, passed away on May 16, 2024, at Laredo Specialty Hospital in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Benavides is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Leonardo and Maria Venicia Benavides

Mr. Benavides is survived by his wife, Petra Benavides; son, Luis (Maritza) Lopez; daughter, Jessica (Isidoro) Vargas; grandchildren, Luis O. Lopez,  Andrew Lopez, Alexander Lopez, Cadence Lopez, Vianey (Gabriel) Gonzales, Juan A. Guzman, Anahi Espitia, Adamarie Guzman; great-grandchildren; Camilla Fernandez, Cree Gonzales, Ettezil Vallejos; brothers, Ramon L. (Veronica) Benavides, Alfonzo J. (Lydia) Benavides, George (Marissa) Benavides, Felipe (Tania) Benavides; sisters Nora B (†Raul) Rodriguez, Cynthia Benavides and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours were held Friday, May 24, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, we opened 8:00 a.m. and the funeral procession departed 9:45 a.m. for an 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
