Jose Abelardo Flores 85, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and sons on March 6, 2022.   Jose A. Flores was born March 17, 1936 to Manuel and Hermelinda B. Flores

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Manuel Mario Flores, Andres Mauro Flores, Lauro (Raquel) Flores and Jacinto Flores.

Mr. Flores is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elma V. Flores, and his sons, Luis Arturo (Yvonne) Flores, and Carlos Homero (Rebeca) Flores. His grandchildren, Luis Arturo Flores Jr, Oscar Rene Flores, and Carlos Homero Flores Jr. Also surviving him are his sisters, Irma (†Ruben) Salazar, Irene F.(†Efrain A.) Lopez, Nora Flores Davila, his brothers, Salvador (Esperanza) Flores, †Jacinto J. (Ernestina) Flores, his sisters in law †Josefa (Concepcion Jr.) Bustamante, Pilar (Roberto) Guerra, Maria O. Flores, and brother in law, †Romeo (Paz) Vela.

Abelardo worked for Texas Department of Transportation for 37 years until his retirement in 1999.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
