ZAPATA, TEXAS---Jose Clemente Gutierrez 71, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Judge Gutierrez is preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica Y. Gutierrez; parents, Jose Refugio Gutierrez and Amalia Ramirez Gutierrez and a brother, Jose Refugio Gutierrez, Jr.

Judge Gutierrez is survived by his wife, Elia B. Gutierrez; son, Jose Clemente Gutierrez, Jr. (Kimberly Hernandez); daughters, Rebecca G. (George L.) Blevins , Raquel Y. Gutierrez; grandchildren, George Isaiah Blevins, Garrick Isaac Blevins, Jose Clemente Gutierrez, III, Eliel Ismael Gutierrez, Nikole I. Lopez, Jayden C. Gutierrez, Christopher Rene Gutierrez; siblings, Maria Gutierrez, San Juana Jackson (David Jackson), Gloria Villarreal (Eduardo Villarreal), Amalia Navarro (Juan Navarro) and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Judge Gutierrez was a Zapata High School graduate Class of 1967, U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran from 1971-1973, barber for over 40 years and a Zapata County Justice of the Peace Judge from 1990-2014. He was also actively involved in the American Legion serving in many capacities including Commander.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10 a.m. at San Jose Cemetery in Uribeño, Texas including full Military Honors by the American Legion Post 486 Color Guard.
