ZAPATA, TEXAS---Jose Maria Chapa "Chema", passed away on November, 19, 2022 at Falcon Lake Nursing Home in Zapata, Texas.

Mr. Chapa is preceded in death by his son Rodrigo Chapa; grandson, Rodrigo Chapa Jr.; parents, Merced and Paulina Chapa; sisters, Minerva (Tomas) Rodriguez, Noemi (Seferino) Menchaca.

Mr. Chapa is survived by his wife, Maria E. Chapa; sons; Jose M. Chapa Jr., Cruz Chapa, Edelmiro (Elva) Chapa, Dagoberto (Norma) Chapa; daughters, Soraida Chapa, Blanca M. Cruz; grandchildren, Victor A. (Yesenia) Chapa, Alva M. (Armando) Del Bosque, Marcos, Erick, Cruz Jr., Camila Chapa, Tracy Chapa, Jose E. Chapa, Dagoberto Jr. (Lily) Chapa, Daniel C. Chapa, David J. Chapa, Bianca Y. (Francisco) Fernandez, Gilbert E. Cruz Jr., Bianira M. Cruz; great-grandchildren, Victoria Chapa, Kaylee K. Del Bosque, Marcos Jr., Leah Chapa, Ethan Chapa, Santiago Fernandez, Rodrigo Chapa III       and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart at 2:30 p.m. for a 3:00 p.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
