ZAPATA, TEXAS---Jose G. Barrera 56, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

Mr. Barrera is preceded in death by his father, Jose Manuel Barrera.

Mr. Barrera is survived by his wife, Emma C. Barrera; sons, Francisco (Connie) Muñoz, Jose G. Barrera, Jr. (Cassandra Navarro); daughters, Celina Y. (Ricardo R.) Garza, Luisana Muñoz; grandchildren, Mirely A. Muñoz, Kively A. Muñoz, Francisco "Panchito" Muñoz, II, Joaquin Muñoz, Audrina C. Garza, Mila Ava Barrera; great-granddaughter, Sarah G. Galvan; mother, Noemi G. Barrera; brothers, Gerardo (Lisa L.) Barrera, Ricardo Barrera; sister, Clarissa B. (Jesse) Alvarez and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. graveside service at Zapata County Cemetery.
