ZAPATA, TEXAS---Jose Adan Gutierrez 73, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital in, San Antonio,Texas.

Mr. Gutierrez is preceded in death by his parents, Jose De la Merced and Eliza Gutierrez; brother, Enrique Gutierrez.

Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his sister Minerva Amesquita; brothers, Lizandro (†Barbara Jane) Gutierrez, Javier O. Gutierrez and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Mr. Gutierrez was a proud member of the Christian Union Institute Class of 1963, he also served in the U.S. Army from 1969 - 1979. He worked as a Librarian at Zapata County Library, and he contributed a weekly column to the Zapata County News.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 8:30 am with a chapel service 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Burial services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery, including full Military Honors by the American Legion Post 486 Color Guard.
