ZAPATA, TEXAS---Joel Morales, Sr. 72, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Mr. Morales is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Emilia Morales; step-mother, Rafaela Morales and an uncle, Martin Morales.

Mr. Morales is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ayme C. Morales; son, Joel (Angelica) Morales; grandchildren, Nicolas Morales, Alexandra Morales, Adrian Morales; brothers, Pedro (Rosaura) Morales, Israel (Francisca) Morales, Javier (Elvia) Morales; Raymundo (Juanita) Morales, Mario (Diana) Morales and by numerous other family members and friends.

He was an educator for Corpus Christi Independent School District for 30 years, an active member of Nuestra Senora de San Juan Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a graduate of Texas A&I university with a bachelor's of science and had a master's of science from Corpus Christi State University.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
