Jesus M. "Chuy" Villarreal, 69, went to meet with the Lord on April 15, 2017 at home in Laredo, Texas.

He was born on September 15, 1947, in San Ygnacio, Texas to Cipriano and San Juana S. Villarreal.

He resided in Zapata County most of his life. Chuy worked as a self-employed trucker alongside his brother Leonel for more than 35 year. Together they worked hauling produce, grains, ranching materials and hays. They labored tirelessly up until his brother's death in 1997. Shortly thereafter, he moved to California and resided there with several cousins and family members on and off until 2015, when he returned to Laredo, Texas and lived the remainder of his life with his beloved younger children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his children Sandra A. Martinez, Carlos Daniel Villarreal, grandson Juan Antonio Martinez III, parents Cipriano and San Juana S. Villarreal, brothers Manuel M. Villarreal, Leonel G. Villarreal and infant brothers Ramiro and Manuel Mario Villarreal.
He is survived by his sons Cipriano J. (Cynthia) Villarreal of Hebbronville, Texas; Roberto Neri Villarreal of Zapata, Texas; daughter Tanya (Gustavo) Lecea, of Laredo, Texas; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

He is survived by his son Jesus M. Villarreal, Jr., grandchildren Margie, Jessica, Jennifer and Jesse Villarreal III of San Antonio, Texas.

He is also survived by his loving children Jessica V. (Jose Luis) Carranco, Jennifer V. (Israel Jr.) Guerrero, James Simon (Delia) Villarreal; grandchildren Kayla Gonzalez, Matthew Gonzalez, Savannah Gonzalez, Samantha Gonzalez, Brandy Gonzalez, Hailey Mendoza, Juanito Guerrero, Jayden Guerrero, Lynette Villarreal, Roland Villarreal, Mya Villarreal, and Delilah Villarreal; his "adopted" granddaughter/neighbor Michelle Villarreal and her children Jorgito and Chuyito, of Laredo, Texas, who devoutly cared for him during his illness and will greatly miss him.
He will also be missed by his surviving sister-in-law Consuelo R. Villarreal, niece Mary Jayne V. (Michael) Bonoan of Zapata, Texas and nephew Leonel G. Villarreal of San Antonio, Texas, who also took the time to be with him as much as possible during his illness. He is also survived by uncle Lazaro "Lito" Salinas of Victoria, Texas and by numerous cousins, family members, friends and neighbors.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. with a chapel service at 10 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Graveside services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
