FREER, TEXAS---James Devaun Beeson Jr., passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his Residence in Freer, Texas.

J.D is preceded in death by his son, Richard Gullespie; parents, James Beeson and Bernice Whitmire; sisters, Mary Jane and Catherine; Mother-in-law, Ninfa G. Jasso.

J. D.  is survived by his wife of 37 years, Coly Beeson; children, Alberico (Amanda) Flores, Ninfa (Mitchell) Hippensteal, James Beeson III; 7 grandchildren, Emory, Matthew, Stephanie, Camryn, Cade, Olivia, Kaylee; sister, Bertha Beeson; brother, Harold (Sharon) Beeson and numerous other family members and friends.

J.D. was a devoted and loving husband, father, a proud grandfather, an avid outdoorsman, and a dedicated Deputy Game Warden who honorably served for 50 years. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family and the life he built with them. He was truly one of a kind there was never a dull moment, and he always found the light in any situation. His legacy of love, laughter, service, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and forever remembered. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find peace in knowing this is not goodbye it is simply, "Until we meet again".

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Devoted Healthcare and Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and support shown during such a difficult time. A very special thank you to Kaelyn and Terry for your kindness, dedication, and the genuine comfort you brought to our family. Your love, patience, and unwavering support will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for everything you have done.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Friday, we will open at 8:00 a.m. the funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
