ZAPATA, TEXAS---J. Alvin McMeans 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. McMeans is preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Gay McMeans; parents, Jake and Nellie McMeans and a brother, Verlan W. (Bertie) McMeans.

Mr. McMeans is survived by his wife, Velma J. McMeans; sons, Wesley (Marta) McMeans, Wendell (Melanie) McMeans; grandchildren, Justin McMeans, Jake McMeans, Cody McMeans, Misty Deaton (Robert Howard), Brian Deaton, Kristi N. Bates; great-grandchildren, Bryce Howard and Ellie Howard and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Mr. McMeans worked at numerous ranches as foreman and served at USDA for over 30 years, he retired as Zapata County Supervisor in 2001.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 9 a.m. with a chapel service at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
