ZAPATA, TEXAS---Israel B. "Ike" Gutierrez 53, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at his residence in Zapata, Texas.

Ike is preceded in death by his father, Ricardo V. Gutierrez and his in-laws, Gerardo and Elva A. Gutierrez.

Ike is survived by his wife, Veronica L. Gutierrez; sons, Israel B. "Ike" Jr. (Loraly) Gutierrez, Roberto R. "Beto" Gutierrez; daughters, Amanda L. (Ramiro) Reyes, Valerie L. Gutierrez; grandchildren, Addison M. Reyes, Paxton L. Patterson, Israel B. "Ike" Gutierrez, III; mother, Sara R. Gutierrez; brothers, Ricardo V. Jr. (Maria) Gutierrez; Francisco J. (Rosalynn) Gutierrez; brothers-in-law, Gerardo III (Juana Maria) Gutierrez, Gregory (Cynthia) Gutierrez and by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Ike was a proud member of Zapata High School Class of 1984. He worked for Zapata County Fire Department and retired as a Captain after 29 years. He also retired from Webb County Fire Department as a Captain after 8 years. Ike had a passion for hunting and life in general. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
