ZAPATA, TEXAS---Irene Martinez, 84, passed away on Valentine's Day (February 14, 2023) to be with the Love of her life, Sylvester Martinez Jr.  As strong as she was, his passing in June of 2021 was something she could not overcome. We spoke of him on a daily basis, almost always with tears in our eyes...some happy and some sad.  One way or another, she was going to find her way back to him and out of nowhere, God answered her prayers.  She is now resting in peace with her JR by her side. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Martinez is preceded in death by her parents William Thatcher and Manuela Montes sisters Eva Gutierrez, and Mable Perez.

Mrs. Martinez  is survived by daughter, Lori Bustamante (Adan) brothers Jose M. Montes, Modesto Montes (Elmina) and Roel Perez Grandchildren...Sunshine (Hugo) Lara, Daniel (Jennifer) Bustamante, Shelby Bustamante Great –grandchildren,  Kendyll Lara, Yuri Lara, Rebecca Lara, Jacqueline Lara,  Jarran Kotara, and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
