ZAPATA, TEXAS---Heberto "Beto" Gonzalez 88, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his residence in Zapata, Texas.

Mr. Gonzalez is preceded in death by his parents, Melquiades and Antonia Gonzalez; brothers, Jorge Gonzalez, Melquiades Jr. (Francisca M.) Gonzalez; Juan (Estela) Gonzalez; sisters, Ofilia (Manuel) Santiago, Zulema (Felix) Carrion, Maria Cristina (Santiago) Torres, Cora (Mario) De Los Santos;

Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his wife, Maria E. Gonzalez; daughter, Herica (Jorge) Brondo; grandsons, Joel Omar Jr. (Madeline) Elizondo, Javier Andres Elizondo; sister-in-law, Elda L. Gonzalez and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Mr. Gonzalez was employed 28 years at Zapata Co. Sheriff's Department. He was a master musician and the founder of several conjunto bands in Zapata. He was also a well known music teacher of the accordion and bajo sexto with many of his students becoming professional musicians.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
