ZAPATA, TEXAS---Gumercindo "Gume" Hinojosa 83, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Doctor's Hospital in Edinburg, Texas.

Mr. Hinojosa is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Del Socorro Hinojosa; son, Zaragoza Hinojosa; great-granddaughter, Faith Adellee Lopez; parents, Gumercindo and Eloisa Hinojosa; brothers, Ramon Hinojosa and Jose Luz Hinojosa.

Mr. Hinojosa is survived by his sons, Dagoberto (Bertha) Hinojosa, Albaro (Brenda) Hinojosa; daughters, Maria Eloisa (Reynol) Bautista, Maria Isabel (David) Delgado, Edna Lorena Hinojosa; grandchildren, Dagoberto Jr. (Melissa) Hinojosa, Selina Icela Hinojosa, Brizeiry Fatima Hinojosa, Brisa Hinojosa, Monica (Gilberto) Alaniz, Yesenia (Jose) Rodriguez, Carolina (Abiud) Buruato, Azucena (Alfonso) Zepeda, Isabel (Ricky) Villarreal, Virginia (Oscar) Granados, Roel (Jenicia) Bautista, Nancy (Ricky) Lopez, Jose (Cynthia) Hinojosa; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; brother, Roel (Ani) Hinojosa; sisters, Gela Ramirez, Minerva (Ramiro) Garza, Aurora (Felipe) Jaramillo; sister-in-law, Guadalupe Hinojosa and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Mr. & Mrs. Gumercindo Hinojosa were owners and operators of El Jacalito Restaurant for over 40 years.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
