ZAPATA, TEXAS---Gerardo J. "Slim" Mendoza 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Zapata, Texas.

Mr. Mendoza is preceded in death by his wife, Elva C. Mendoza; parents, Amador and Petra Mendoza and by his sister, Teresa (Enrique) Cuellar.

Mr. Mendoza is survived by his sons, Javier A. (Irma) Mendoza, Gerald G. (Carol) Mendoza, Anthony (Leslie) Mendoza; daughters, Cynthia (David) Aldrich, Norma J. (Francisco) Camacho, Lydia Mendoza, Angela (Fabian) Granada, and Marta Palma; 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; brother, Antonio (†Lilia) Mendoza; sister, Lydia († Evaristo) Rodriguez and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. with a chapel service at 10:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
