ZAPATA, TEXAS— It is with deep sorrow that we announce Geneva Jane Yeager peacefully passed away in Laredo, Texas, on August 15, 2025, two weeks shy of her 85th birthday. Born in Edinburg, Texas in 1940, she was the beloved daughter of Alma Lena Merkord. Her father was Dewey Harvey Yeager, Sr. She was married to William Hull from 1959 to 1968. Geneva was a loving mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Elsa Hull and Eric Yeager (Andres Peralta), and her grandchildren, Almalena Hinojosa and Iliana Hinojosa. Geneva was a single mother employed in the retail sales field. She was an active member at First Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. She loved singing in the church choir and served as a Sunday School teacher. She volunteered as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and a group leader for Camp Fire Girls. Words she wanted to be remembered by were, "Children are a blessing." Geneva instilled a strong sense of compassion for animals in her children and grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Corpus Christi, spent some time in Laredo and San Ygnacio, Texas, and then moved to Zapata, Texas, where she met Robert Brownell in 2013, her loving partner for the rest of her life. As she desired, her ashes will be scattered at her favorite fishing spot near Corpus Christi, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Geneva's name can be made to your local animal shelter.
