ZAPATA, TEXAS---Fernando Rivera, Jr. 71, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Rivera is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Benilde Rivera.

Mr. Rivera is survived by his wife, Yolanda Rivera; daughters, Benilde Z. Rivera (Noel Cremar), Myrna (Anselmo, Jr.) Rodriguez, Yolanda R. (Jose Eloy, Jr.) Salinas; grandchildren, Aguinaldo R. Hernandez, Jr., Francisco Javier Hernandez, Francisco Javier Peña, Alberto Lucas Hernandez, Alvaly Peña (Mario Torres), Rebecca Yvette Salinas, Daniella Hernandez, Jose Eloy Salinas, III, Jose Daniel Salinas; great-grandchild, Mateo Adrian Torres; brothers, Miguel Angel (Perla) Rivera, Rolando (Maria) Rivera, †Baldomero (Dolores) Rivera; sisters, Elodia (Jose Luis) Vasquez, Elva Nelia (Jose Luis) Guevara and by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Visitation hours were held on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 8 a.m. with a rosary at 9 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession departed at 10:30 a.m. for an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Graveside service was held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
