ZAPATA, TEXAS---Fernando Martinez Jr. 69, passed away February 7, 2022 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by his grandson, Arturo Javier Garcia; parents, Fernando and Manuela Martinez; brother, Juan Manuel Martinez; in-laws Gervacio and Lilia Vela; and sister-in-law, Minerva Vela

Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Margarita V. Martinez; daughter, Eva Irlanda (Daniel) Hurtado; son, Fernando (Alma) Martinez III; grandchildren, Kassandra (Luis) Paredes, Humberto Garcia Jr., Carlos Javier Garcia, Jose Daniel Garcia, Yaneli Anahi Martinez; great grandchildren, Luis Antonio Paredes Jr. Larissa Analee Paredes; sisters-in-law, Rosa Martinez, Graciela Gonzalez, Rosario (Hector) Garza, Diana Vela; brothers-in-law, Luis Vela, Rafael (Jessica) Vela, and by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Mohsen Ghadimi-Mahani, the nurses from Holy Savior Hospice, Palliative Care, and Zapata Gateway Family Clinic.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday February 9, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart 10:30 a.m. for a 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
