Eva Escamilla Porras, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on November 6, 2024. She was born and raised in Premont, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Refugia and Genaro Escamilla of Premont, her brothers, Genaro, Erasmo, Edmundo, Adan; and her sisters, Hilda, Mary and Petra.

Left to cherish her memory is her spouse, Cesareo Rene Porras; children, Cynthia (Jorge) Porras Morales, Thelma (Wayne) Porras Nance, Paul (Ana Laura) Rene Porras; grandchildren, Astrid (Eloy), Daniela, Isabelle, Sophia, Pablo, Eva Simone; great grandchild, Ezra and brother, Edward (Maria) Escamilla.

Eva, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived with purpose and joy.

Born with an adventurous spirit and a warm heart, she found joy in the simple pleasures, especially her morning coffees and sweet treats, often shared with her beloved family. Her greatest pride and happiness came from the precious moments she spent with her grandchildren and great- grandson, who brought her immense joy and purpose.

Alongside her husband, she traveled the world, making beautiful memories and sharing experiences that enriched their lives. One of which included skiing, an activity she not only excelled at but shared with her family, creating lasting memories on snowy slopes.

For 23 years, she dedicated herself to teaching, touching countless lives with her kindness, patience, and unwavering belief in the potential of each and every student. She was a Golden Apple nominee for several years and was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2004.She was known for her genuine care and commitment, and her impact on the lives of her students remains a testament to her beautiful spirit.

A woman of grace, humility, and strength, she was also an active member of the Pan American Round Table and Society of Martha Washington, finding joy and connection in the friendships she cultivated there.

Her family and friends will always remember her for her generosity, her kind spirit, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, Texas on Saturday, November 9, 2024, and will be laid to rest at the Zapata County Cemetery.
