ZAPATA, TEXAS— Ernesto Jesus Guerra ,74, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Falcon Lake Nursing Home in Zapata, Texas.

Mr. Guerra discovered his passion for playing pool at the young age of eight and continued to enjoy the game throughout his life. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9982 and lived with unwavering strength, facing every challenge with courage. A hardworking man and a devoted grandparent, he found great joy in spending time with loved ones and sharing daily conversations with his siblings. His presence, kindness, and resilience left a lasting impact, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mr. Guerra is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Hilda Guzman Guerra; parents, Avelino Guerra Ramirez and Lidia Moya de Guerra; brothers, Adan Guerra Moya, Manuel Rolando Guerra Moya; sister, Maria Elena Guerra Moya.

Mr. Guerra is survived by his son, Ernesto Ivan Guerra; daughter, Elizabeth Yvonne Guerra, Veronica Edith Guerra Rivera; grandchildren, Baldomero Rivera III, Vielka Chabelli Rivera, Brando Roque Rivera, Ernesto I. Guerra Jr., Daniel R. Guerra, Andres Gutierrez; brothers, Juan Jose (Delia) Guerra Moya, Omar (Bertha) Guerra Moya, Avelino Jr. (Irene) Guerra Moya; sisters, Yamina (Juan) Barrera, Celia (Rafael) Hernandez, Maria E. "Chivy" Guerra Moya; sister-in-law, Juana Guerra and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, we will open at 8:00 a.m. and depart at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, Texas.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
