ZAPATA, TEXAS---Ernestina Vela Rodriguez 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her house in Las Blancas Ranch in Jim Hogg County.

Mrs. Vela Rodriguez is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Rodriguez; parents, Aureliano and Beatriz Vela-Peña; mother, Irene Martinez Vela; brother, Roberto (Tirza) Vela; sisters, Laurentina Vela Peña and Alicia Vela (Juventino) Gonzalez.

Mrs. Vela Rodriguez is survived by her sons, Roberto Jr. (Josefina) Rodriguez, Ricardo H. Rodriguez, Rene G. (Sandra) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Beatriz Irene (Daniel) Cazares, Rosa Amada (Danny) Martinez, Roberto III (Shannon) Rodriguez, Adela Cristina (Paul) Uribe, Ricardo H. Rodriguez, Jr., Ernestina (Theodore) Garcia, Rene G. Rodriguez, Jr., Roberto Antonio Rodriguez, Ruben Jesus (Leann) Rodriguez, Rosa Maria (Juan) Mondragon, Rosalva Rodriguez (Isaac) Hinojosa; numerous great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.

Mrs. Rodriguez worked at several retail stores in Laredo before becoming a full time rancher with her husband Roberto Rodriguez in Webb, Jim Hogg and Zapata Counties.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Saturday, May 1, 2021 we will open at 8:00 a.m. and depart at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Las Blancas Cemetery in Jim Hogg County.
