ZAPATA, TEXAS---Elia Lamar Mercado 57, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Ms. Mercado is preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Patrocinia Mercado; brothers and sisters, Trinidad Mercado, Manuel Mercado, Rodolfo Mercado, Jose Luis Mercado, Gloria Imelda Escalante, Maria Del Carmen Mercado and a niece, Maria De La Luz Ponce.

Ms. Mercado is survived by her partner, Belinda Luebano; brother, Carlos (Isabel) Mercado; sister, Maria M. Sowell and by numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grandnephews, great-grandnieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Sunday, January 5, 2020 we will open Rose Garden Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. and a chapel service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
